Isa Arriola
Theresa (Isa) Arriola was born and raised on the island of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. She is a cultural anthropologist who earned her PhD from the University of California at Los Angeles. She is an Assistant Professor in the Sociology and Anthropology Department at Concordia University (Tiohtià:ke/Montreal) . Her research and activism focuses on the contemporary demilitarisation movements throughout the Marianas, in response to US militarisation in the archipelago to answer geo-political regional tensions. She currently chairs a community advocacy group on Saipan named Our Common Wealth 670 (@ourcommonwealth670) which works to educate the community about militarisation in the Marianas. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her four young children, especially at the beach.
