Zebunisso Sharipova
Mrs. Zebunisso Sharipova is a renowned lawyer, researcher, and member of the Board of the League of Women Lawyers of Tajikistan. Her tireless work focuses on empowering women particularly in rural Tajikistan, by enhancing their knowledge of women’s rights and protecting them from domestic violence.
Mrs. Sharipova’s expertise is evident in her research on “Early Marriage and the Resulting Violence Against Women and Girls in the Family,” with support from APWLD. As Coordinator-Lawyer of the project “Lawyers Defending Human Rights in the Field of Healthcare,” supported by the International Organization of the Open Society Institute and the Fund for Cooperation in Tajikistan, she played a pivotal role in safeguarding the rights of women in healthcare settings.
Her contributions extend to the development of an analysis on sexual harassment in the Republic of Tatarstan as part of the project “Rule of Law and Access to Justice.” She is currently conducting a study on “Empowering Women and Girls to Address the Problem of Early Marriage and Violence Against Women in Tajikistan.”
Furthermore, Mrs. Sharipova actively participated in the compilation of a module for the project “Strengthening the Capacity of Civil Society Organisations and the Regional Women’s Movement to End Gender-Based Violence in Central Asia.” Her expertise in training program and tool development has significantly enhanced the capacity of organisations to combat gender-based violence.
