Climate and environmental solutions by and for indigenous LBQ feminist women human defenders
Sangsan Anakot Yawachon Foundation have been conducted Feminist Participatory Action Research on advancing right to natural resources by and for indigenous women and LGBTIQAN+ . This FPAR leading by indigenous LGBTIQAN+ youth from 3 communities, in 3 provinces including Maehongson, Chiangmai and Tak provinces, border with Myanmar.
Therefore, we would like to share our experience in work advancing right to natural resources by and for indigenous women and LGBTIQAN+. Our successful stories included development collective leadership among indigenous communities, especially to those who identified as LGBTIQAN feminist youth. In term of advocacy, we submitted policy recommendations to the Thailand parliament.
The result was the Thailand parliament established sub committee on “studies of discrimination and human rights violations against indigenous people”, which Matcha Phornin was appointed as a committee among 5 Member of the House of Representatives which made it possible to investigate the human rights violations, faced by women and LGBTIQAN+ from an indigenous community in order to seek for solutions, in the context of discriminatory policies and laws, Business and Human Right as well as climate and environmental injustice.
