Workshop

Young Women at the Frontlines

by Tanggol Bayi (Defend Women) Philippines
Day 2 11am 2 hours English

Young women in the frontlines is a talk session of young women human rights defenders contending with the impacts and challenges of globalization, fundamentalism, militarism and patriarchy in the Asia Pacific region.

Young women human rights defenders, along with their peers from across generations, have been at the forefront of the struggles for equality and non-discrimination, for land rights and climate justice, for just living wages and social protection, for accessible and mass-oriented education, for human rights and justice.

Their strategies of resistance, from their own lived realities and experiences and the lessons learnt of generations that are struggling with them, informs the social and women’s movements in the Asia Pacific not only in contending with the present but in building feminist futures.
